Hi,
American scientists have just filmed an electron in motion. Watch it on Yahoo News. It is time for us, Europeans, to pay our scientists a decent wage, and pay them well. It is time for us to fund correctly our science universities.
Who's going to find the next source of energy?
Yours friend,
Frederic

Dear Frederic, thanks for the info - it's always interesting to hear about new scientific breakthroughs! I looked up the story on Yahoo News and found out that it's actually Swedish researchers (University of Lund) who filmed an electron! So this innovation actually came from a European university:

Hi again Frederic, I think you have a very good point regarding research funding. The wages/ stipends of Ph.D. students is a good example. This articles gives an overview of salaries in different EU-countries and reveals some serious problems:

I am not saying that a Ph.D. stipend should be competitive to a private sector salary, but the income should be sufficient for the student to support herself - and a Ph.D. position should of course include social security. This is, in my opinion, a social problem.

Dear Friend, I agree with you. All our freedom and prosperity is due to the science. To invest in the I+D+I is the best investment that we can do to protect our way of life ant to improve it facing climate change, food shortage, illness….To be able to post comments you need to be logged in.
